Who is still hunting this year? Hunting for deer? Small game? What are your plans?

Our regular guns season just ended here. I passed up a few small bucks and saw one nice one that was running too fast and too far.
Our deer season with ML and shotgun continue until the end of January, and I know there are a few nice bucks around, that I will try for, before I fill the freezer with a few does if necessary.

I have enough in the freezer so i am only hunting with my 7 year old son now. So fair weather weekends and such. Hope to get another when he is with me.

I plan to hunt 1-2 days ML here in NJ next week, or maybe just after Christmas. I am hunting zone 4 (I do not bow hunt) so I think my options end on 12/31.

I always daydream that I'm going to hit western MA with my punkin-chunker but can't quite get there. Otherwise I'll be working in pipeline, ice fishing and chasing some bunnies...

Sorry, VTHunter is right - I live an hour from the farm I grew up on, so I only have weekends to get our sugaring operation up and running before the sap flows. I also split those weekends with ice fishing, snowboarding, rabbit hunting...so the minute deer season is over, I (and a million other VT'ers) try to get a head start on sugaring. But I'd really like to sneak in MA muzzleloader season, because there's going to be snow on the ground.....

Oh, ok I wasn't thinking syrup! lol Yeah, I was amazed one year we drove to a new area up around Willard Ridge, Maine and saw all the tubes running down the mountain. Pretty cool.

This Saturday will be my last deer hunting day this season with the ML down in MA. It’s been a great year. Started with bowhunting at home here in VT, then a week long bowhunt in OH where I shot a nice 9pt. Then home for a couple more bow sits followed by a week of ML and rifle in Pittsburg NH. Missed a small buck there on my last day. After that it was home to VT for two weeks of rifle at 3 different camps. Only buck was a spikehorn but I did shoot a small bear and two coyotes. The coyotes were a double, first time that’s happened. Then it was on to MA for 3 days of shotgun. Saw 26 deer in 3 days, one buck that I hit and knocked down but didn’t recover. Back home to VT for ML, shot a beautiful doe last Friday, 137lbs. I get three weeks with my wife in January out in NV, AZ, and CA then it’s into the sugar woods and running the groomer part time for our snowmobile club.

I have 2 more hunts in MA and then I'm hanging it up for the season. Won't be still hunting though, just sitting in a tree bored out of my mind with a bow :) The freezer is full so my motivation isn't very high but I do need to pull two stands so I'll hunt them and pull them at the end of the hunt.

MA muzzleloader ends on 12/31. I have the whole last week off. Planing to hit it hard. Then I’ll probably hunt a few days of late goose season with friends

I can't believe its over - time flies so fast. I drove down Dover Hill Road in Dover VT today and someone had an absolutely beautiful 8 pointer hanging off the kubota bucket. If you happen to be on here, post that thing up...that buck deservers some attention.
