That's faded? You should see what I wear.
Just keeping everyone legal.;)

"Hunter orange is defined as a daylight fluorescent orange color with a dominant wave length between 595 and 605 nanometers, excitation purity of at least 85% and luminance factor of at least 40%. A decal on an article of clothing that is otherwise solid hunter orange is permissible. Articles of hunter orange clothing must be in good and serviceable condition and visible from all sides."

I bet some Rit dye might bring those capes back a little, available on Amazon.
I looked into this a bit. The directions have you diluting a bath and submersing the garment in it. Not sure how that would work just trying to address the cape. If anybody has tried a modified approach with success I’d love to hear some feedback and pointers. Not super interested in testing it out myself and looking like a tie dye that just left a Grateful Dead concert.

Stagr sells blaze capes. You can just cut out the faded one and hire a clothing seamstress/tailor to sew the new one on.

Putting a fleece vest in place of a wool section of coat would make about as much sense is putting on a condom for the ride home after you got laid.

Just throwing it out there as a potential option if people think they have a cape that would no longer pass and were concerned. If I was, I'd roll the dice, going from a once orange cape and dying orange again is different than a complete color change I would think. Has great ratings, live dangerously.:)

I don't wear that type of coat. I figured the blaze cape was on top of the actual plaid coat. If the blaze is actually the coat, and not a cape, then you could sew the fleece one on top of the faded one. By the way, it's highly unnecessary to reply in a rude and disrespectful manner when members are trying to assist each other.

It was a joke Fuzzy. I was just being a smartass.

The pockets on the jacket are sewn in. The only option is to have the wool dyed again, or just deal with it. I have one of those cheaper half capes I can put over it, but it makes getting to the breast pockets a pain in the ass. I don't hunt Maine so I won't have to worry about "being legal". The coat is in broke in shape so I really don't want to part with it. I'd just like the orange to stand out a little better.

I think getting the orange on just the cape would be a tough task. Both trying to get the dye in, then rinsing it out. Being a "dry clean only" coat that could be a shat show as well. Faded coat it is until someone makes something better.

They are rare, but there are professional clothing dyeing services available, which could be considered in the off season.

I’m rolling the dice until I get a fine or warning on mine.
I’ve been taking this approach and will probably continue to so for now. If push comes to shove I’ll roll the dice and try the dye. I fear adding another layer in the form of a vest would get me sweated up more than I already get, which is plenty.

My issue is that I don’t want to add another vest on a waterproof wool coat. I see those mountain deer YouTube guys had someone sew a cotton one over their faded orange one. I’m not sure I want to do that yet, though my orange looks more like a bright brown now.

I have a couple $5 vests I keep in my truck. They're very light with a velcro closure. Made out of nylon or rayon maybe , they don't absorb water.

I pulled my gear out today. My silent predator vest is looking more pink than orange these days. I do not want to use a cotton or fleece vest. I might have to look into dying it.

I purchased the Stagr cape to replace a crappy Amazon HME vest I wear around home. The cape appears to be well made, the only gripe I would have which I was sort of suspecting given what I've seen in the past of "blaze" fleece is that that it's not really "blaze" at all, it's really just a dark orange.

Their other products (jacket, gloves etc.) seem solid and well priced.

For you guys that purchased the Stagr stuff. How does it look? Quality?
The wool isn't as heavy as the BWB coats but the price is much better and I like the pocket config.
My only concern so far is they took pretty long to answer emails but they respond eventually.
Looking at gloves / coat

When I read this thread I thought back to Buckshot and his very faded blaze orange hat that he wore religiously. RIP Ben.
