I had jumped a small buck in a cut last Friday morning. I went back that afternoon with a ladder stand and got set up for the evening sit... Not a deer came out. It was forecasted to rain much of Saturday, but when I woke up at 5:00am it was still somewhat clear, I decided to go sit until the heavy rain started. Getting there a few minutes before legal, I watched as the cut came into view. About an hour later I looked over to the far tree line and this buck was looking in my direction head on. After a minute or so, he turned and walked about 20' and stopped broadside looking over his shoulder, again in my direction. I lowered the crosshairs onto his neck base/high shoulder and let one go... 175yds freehand. Browning BPR 30-06 with 180 round nose core lokt. He looked magnificent looking over from across that cut, very happy with him.
