Probably an odd question but are they on an up cycle?

I hadn't seen any in a few years and this year they seem to be everywhere. Saw 2 the other morning while going fishing, had another cross the road last night on the way home, and we saw a couple driving down to Washington County. My neighbor has one living in his garage and another neighbor has had problems with them.

Weasel numbers do fluctuate somewhat but it's more due to available prey and not a cycle thing. While they will take animals much larger, their main diet is mice and other small rodents. I'm guessing you had a good "mouse year" or perhaps chipmunks. I always felt the term cycle in wildlife was used when we don't understand what's really going on.

There's an abundance of chipmunks and cottontails in s.e. Ct. this year. I"ve seen a few foxes but no weasels.

My parents have been seeing a good number of them in Washington County also.
