The half-life of Tritium (the radioactive isotope which makes the reticle glow when there isn't sunlight on the fiber optic spine) is about 12 years. So in 12 years your illuminated reticle will only be about half as bright. The "lifetime warranty" that Trijicon offers doesn't include replacement of the tritium.

This is definitely the case. Same as an old Camenga compass I believe they to use tritium. But even at half they are still pretty bright and the scope
has the fibre optic cable so when not in total darkness it will use the available light.

Thanks all for your comments. Not sure yet what the asking price will be but when I do find out I’ll let you know what the outcome is.
