He was cleared of the charges. Honestly, I have seen that video a few times, and I cannot get over how awkward this Franz guy looks hunting. It almost looks like he has never hunted a day in his life before this...

My bad. I hadn't seen the acquittal.

Yes he was cleared but,if you look at the ruling in this link then it would be almost impossible for the state to get a baiting conviction unless the deer were filmed eating bait. He knew the bait site was there and even called the CO on how to deal with them and didn't do what he was told.

The size of the game should not matter one bit. Does 100" or above make it right or wrong? At the beginning of the video they have a pop up saying 100% Fairchase kills. Do you say that unapproved mineral site less than 60 yards from his box blind makes it 100% fair chase?

In NH, those registered bait sites for deer and bear can and are checked Pre , during, and post season. If there's so much as a crumb left you can be charged. People have been charged.

Judge found him not guilty. So, under the Iowa justice system, there is not enough evidence that he broke a law, beyond any reasonable doubt.
And it appears that they tried their bums off to convict him too.

Very true. And OJ was found not guilty too.

In all seriousness, there have been previous convictions in the state of Iowa that should have set precedent and been followed by this judge. Jared Lurk , the Drury Brothers nephew was convicted of a similar situation and his bait site (a previously used mineral site) was much further away. He was convicted and sat out hunting for a year. He manned up and admitted the error. There have been a lot liberal judges appointed over the past decade and the Franz judge was one of them.

Your welcome friend. Maybe you will go to Iowa one day? Although you get some beauties in Maine.
I got drawn in Iowa a few years ago oneshot. Saw a lot of deer, saw "The Chase" passed on an awesome buck that a perfect side and the other was deformed. Shoulda coulda woulda but after that I did see my dream buck at 35 yards but he spooked as I was drawing my bow. Heavy mass and width. I think about that buck more times than I care to mention. He was what Ive been waiting for
