My 17 year old son Eli took the track of this buck and a doe by himself; Thanksgiving day late morning and a mile or so later shot him at less than 20 feet. Real proud of this kid! Weighed him on our scales at 203-204 lbs.No tagging stations around here open on turkey day; so we had to wait until the following day...approx 18 hours. They weighed him at 199.5 lbs...sure wish he could have got his patch.

That's awesome! Reminds me of when I was his age. Can't get enough of stories like this!

So awesome on so many fronts! Congrats to the family. I want to trade my scrawny 15 year old for your son on a drag, the boy looks like he can hold his own!

Outstanding buck and very impressive that he did that on his own. I suspect there will be quite a few patches coming in his future. Congratulations to you and him!

Testicles left on or off?

Junebug. How is it that your son can track a buck for miles in the big woods? Some adults are apprehensive about doing it or afraid of getting lost. What kind of experience has he had in the woods? Does he use a GPS, compass, or is he just infinitely familiar with the area?

What a buck! Tell him nice job and congratulations. In my opinion, the patch is secondary to a great buck. It would be fair to say that he’s going to have his share of patches!
