The Corelokt acts as a good pencil too and I filled out and taped my tag on him. I checked my GPS… 2:30PM… 5 miles from the truck… 1 mile from nearest road waypoint. I’d have to come back the next day to pull him out. I covered him as best I could to deter any yotes in the area, took a compass bearing and began to hoof it out to the road.
300 yards after leaving the buck I came to an old grown in road heading in the wrong direction but one that looked familiar. I decided to take it to see if it changed course and when it did, I knew right where I was. At this point I turned on my radio to see if anyone was on. Luckily, Josh and Dad were both within radio distance and I gave them directions to meet me half way in on this winter road. Just before I met up with them I came across this year old shed and left it there so they could have a peek “As it lay”. After a hug and a handshake we made the decision to go back and pull him out in the dark. As we met up the wind was at its strongest point and the temperature was in the single digits.
