Best of luck! I am always looking out in PA. Lower taxes and no state tax on my pension. Kind of tough for me to leave though. Still have the caretaker retirement job, which includes exclusive hunting on 150 acres, and great hours, so I have to be close. If I ever lose that I would probably go also.

You know where my NJ club is.
Been a member there since I was 17.
Still only 30 minutes from new PA house

I left for same reason.
My wife got got whacked from the company where she worked for 35 years.
Replaced with some new eye candy at 1/3 the salary and a few other Politically motived reasons.
She was going to retire anyway, so pension taxing was big consideration.

Excellent news. What is not to like about Penn's Woods?

You can get a CCW. Try that in NJ without connections ?

You can hunt with and own a suppressor.

Already looked into the CCW, but I never thought about suppressor
Good to know when I walk down to the local gun store and walk out with my next pistol!

Finally had enough.
Wife and I are heading to Saylorsburg PA.
Down sized, picked up a nice renovated ranch.
1/2 mile from a Winery and plenty of woods.
Range 4 miles from the house.

10 days till closing!
Congratulations! You are a few years ahead of me. My youngest just finished his freshman year in HS. There are some wonderful things about this state (NJ) but hard to imagine we will stay for the long term from a financial standpoint alone.

Congrats. I'm jealous. Someday we hope to do the same. All the BS is making me say maybe sooner then later.

Do it!
I could always work remote, even before Covid, and with my wife no longer working, nothing to tie us to NJ now.
Family will still be an hours drive so not bad.
I tripled the size of my property, newer house, slight increase in sq/ft and my property taxes went from 12k to 6500.
By the time I sell my NJ house I should be mortgage free.
And no Murphy!

Downside is MOVING SUCKS. Way too much stuff.
Filled 2 16ft PODS and still need movers to take furniture.
But I did get in shape for hunting walking up and down my steep driveway 100 times a day to load the POD. 🦌

I escaped the peoples republic of Massachusetts 42 years ago and moved to New Hampshire and never looked back! I got tired of being treated like a criminal for having guns. No income tax but the property taxes are high. Still just being able to carry and own any firearm I want, plenty of places to hunt. The Seacoast has changed with a lot of subdivisions but its still better than Mass. Good luck on the new home!!!
