Since I got a smartphone, I started listening to podcasts on the way to and from work. Have found a few I like, even some decent hunting ones. Wondering what you guys listen to?

For hunting I like
Meateater w/ Steve Rinella- http://themeateater.com/2015/meateaterpodcasthuntfishlisten/
Hunt talk radio w/ Randy Newberg- iTunes - https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/...345687547&mt=2 )

Not sold on this one, but they have a few northeastern fellas on there, including our own Todd Mead recently (episode 130) http://www.bigbuckregistry.com/

Others include the TED radio hour, Freakonomics Radio, Joe Rogan (when he has hunting guys on there like Cam Hanes and Rinella).

I've really gotten into the podcasts lately, but the posts above really nailed my list.

You won't learn much from Rinella's show, its almost all west of the Mississippi, but its refreshing to listen to someone that is so authentic and honest on such a popular show.
I just started with Randy's podcast, but he's a wealth of info for anyone wanting to hit public land out west. I believe he's actually friends with some fellow New Englanders linked through Orion as well.
Big Buck Registry has some really good episodes...Todd, yours included - nice work - but scroll through the archives on this one, and I bet you'll find more than a few episodes that are really good, and focused on the northeast.
Rogan is an interesting one. He used to be almost anti-hunting. He's crossed the fence and has become an intelligent advocate for us. Probably thanks atleast partially to Rinella.
Wired To Hunt is midwest style bowhunting, but they line up some fantastic interviews.

I love Freakonomics and TED too.

For those of you that listen to static and commercials on the way to work in the morning, give these a chance.

It's so interesting to listen to all of the methods. And it's interesting to listen to one contradict the other. And of course lots of guys think 'their' method is the correct one.

Many also have an agenda to try and sell their method. Whether it be books dvds or whatever.

I really liked the episide that NH F&G had on there, with Dave Preebe (spelling?) but found myself thinking exactly what you said above - "hmm, that sounds completely counter to what I've read before".

One of the things I was reminded of this year when listening to one of those guys -- hunting on the front and backsides of a cold front. Really started to pay attention to it this year. Both with cameras and when I was in the woods. One of the bucks I was hunting, I noticed, he would show up early when there was a front moving in. Earliest he ever showed was the day prior to a BIG front that came in end of September this year. It was hurricaine/rain storm. I also watch the cameras lighting up with daylight activity the same day in other spots.

So I watched for the next front and was in the tree that night. Sure enough, he showed. 15 minutes earlier he came out. But it was just 2 dark to shoot.

On the flipside, I also heard the same guy say he does not like overast drizzly days. Deer just do not seem to move that well. Shot 2 bucks this year on overcast, dreary days. No drizzle. I have had more chances to shoot big deer on nasty days than good days.

I wouldn't have known about these podcasts without this post. I have been listening to the meateater ones thus far and they are far better than anything on the radio. Worth a try if you have any sort of commute to navigate.

Thanks for posting MbVT.
