Hey NEK VT! I'll be camping at Green River Reservoir September 2023. Where is the closest huntable public woods that holds plenty of squirrels? I can drive if need be. Thanks in advance!

Oak and beech hardwoods? Should be easy enough to find just by a bit of scouting?

Agreed mowbizz, but, nut bearing trees are scarce in the interior of VT due to the sheep farming 100 years ago. Mostly maples, birch, ash, and cottonwood stands. I'm hoping someone knows of a hot spot. Not asking where the big bucks are :)

Can’t help with a “hotspot”
Here’s a suggestion…bring a bird feeder with you…you’ll have squirrels-a-plenty! 😂

I’m not sure you’re going to find great squirrel hunting anywhere in that part of the state? I think the best squirrel hunting in VT is probably in the Champlain and Connecticut river valleys and the Western foothills. Any chance of changing locations or is that set in stone?
