Hello All,

I started hunting and fishing over 40 years ago. I took the last 20 or so years off from hunting due to work, but now have a renewed interest because I have friends interested in sporting now and more time to devote to the woods.

I have a house in Rangeley, Maine but I also spend time in New Hampshire and Massachusetts.

My house in Rangeley is on AirBNB. If you want to rent it, look up "Bungalow Rangeley Maine airbnb" and it should come up on the search results.

I have owned a muzzleloader for decades, but have only recently been bitten by that bug. I have done archery and rifle hunts as well.

Electric bicycles have caught my interest lately as well. They seem like a great way to quietly get through the woods and see the wildlife.

Is there anyone else here in the western mountains of Maine? I know that we only got the internet there a couple of weeks ago! hahaha

Hi Nimrod. You have found the right place, because most of the hunters here are from those states. Yeah, electric bikes are nice, but they are still very expensive. I think the right bike would be worth it though.

Welcome! Been drooling over the Rungu Dualie e-bikes for a while now…don’t know if they will EVER come down in price. ☹️

Thanks for the welcome. I have not been buying the bikes, I have been building them myself. So far, I have made several with the 250 watt, chain driven motors. The motors are less than one hundred dollars online. Then you buy the battery for about one hundred and fifty dollars. Pretty affordable really.

Then next one is going to be a hub motor project with 1500 watts and a much larger battery! It will probably go 35mph!

I plan on hitting the woods pretty hard and doing some scouting for deer this summer with them. Looking forward to it!

Mowbizz, nothing ever comes down in price, especially lately with Brandon at the helm. Check out the hub motor conversions on eBay and watch some videos on you tube and consider making your own. You can actually make a better bike than what is available commercially.

That's great you can make them yourself. I know better than to try that myself.:) Any pics of the bikes you made?

Welcome - I have been hunting the rangeley region for about 15 years and fishing even longer. Transplanted to NJ but still get up there every year. Will check out your Airbnb for sure.

Hey Guys, I apologize for being scarce. I was trying to find a way to scale the image down in order to upload it here, I think I figured it out! Anyways, here is a picture of the 250 watt conversion I am currently riding. I haven't done the 1,500 watt one yet.

Longbow, give it a try. It really isn't that hard.

GW, let me know if you are coming up. Would be great to have a beer together and put a face with a name!

John

Looks like you can't delete duplicate posts but you can edit them, so I thought I would talk some more...

I bought the parts on ebay for under $250 bucks total. The motor is on the rear seat stay, the controller, throttle grip and sprockets come with the motor (~$93) and you buy the batterym (~$139) that is on the down tube separately.

It does require some fiddling in order to get the motor lined up with the sprocket, but it is possible. I need to do that right now to my second build as the chain keeps falling off...

John, I know better than to try that. Oil and filter change is almost too much for my mechanical skills.:)
