700 lbs. that's just insane. You've got some strange bears down there. Are you guys hunting under power lines or near some nuke plants? That's not normal. Congrats to that fella though.

If you let him die of old age he is just a short term story. If you kill him his legend lives on forever. Your kids and grand kids will be telling his story long after we are gone.
Not a bad way to go.

Going to be a fortune to mount it. Thinking about having it done sitting, like this. Maybe that doesn't show off his true size though. I'll have to think about it.

LB just try to have him come in while he is still alive...then you can tell if you will need a bigger opening!

This bear was hit by a truck in PA...monster for sure but I have no other details than “on route 49”

Here is a link to another article and the are talking about 600 and 700 pound bears. I never knew they were that big in North Carolina?

Read a good article a few years ago on hunting those big NC bears. They spot and stalked them in farm country as I recall. Sounded pretty exciting

I looked at North Carolina bear hunts not too long ago. Seems like Hyde County is the place for the real big ones. Hunts were (are) expensive and I didn't get a real good vibe from those I looked at. Several had a price and then a trophy fee on top of that if the bear was over a certain weight OR you could pay a lot more for a "better" opportunity. Not saying they were good or bad just that I thought it was odd.

Some huge bear down there for sure.
