I got such great responses to my western hunting post, I thought I would try again with something closer to home.
Every spring for over 10 years my buddy and I have traveld to the same area in North Western Maine to look for moose sheds.

Last year was one of our worse years of shed hunting, due mostly to the popularity of this area and the higher prices they are now paying for sheds.
It got hammered really hard over the winter by folks on snowmachines. For this reason and with the price of gas for a ten hour drive, we decided to try somewhere else in Maine. We aren't in this for the money, We just enjoy getting out in the woods and finding a few.
I was wondering if anyone knew of a cabin we could rent in the northern part of Maine? I'm not looking for anyone's honey hole. We are pretty good at finding our own spots.
If you know of a place please or might have a lead, please PM me.
Thanks,
Rusty

What do you consider northern Maine?

I would consider places that are far from towns and snowmobile trails which gives you a better chance on old roads. More and more guys are hitting spots on foot with the low snow and or snowshoes.

THis would be early spring as soon as the snow melts and we can drive on some of the roads.
KC, that's what I am looking for is a cabin far from towns and if possible away for snowmobile trails, however it seems like they go werever they want to go.
That's all we do is walk, not ATVs, Side by Side, or snow machines.
Like I said we aren't in it for the money, just for the fun and exploration.
Thanks,
Rusty

Just across the border in in northern NH, rented Moose Alley Cabins IN Pittsburg. Lost of Moose sign and depending on where in ME you are looking you might just be 20 mins away.

What about Tomhegan Camps? Tons of moose all around that country all the way to the 20 mile checkpoint. Good moose woods.

Moose really got off the roads the past few weeks so I think the spring should be good for walking.

You could try Blackwater Outfitters in Masardis. I hunted with them last fall and had a great time.
Dickie and family are nice people and cabins are very comfortable.
