Well, I bought my last rifle...no shit.

A Tikka T3x in 6 1/2 Manbun. Ordered rings for it (6 weeks out) and plan to top it off with decent glass. I'm done.

Now on to my last shotgun.
What rings did you get? I highly recommend the DNZ one piece ring and bases. I’m slowly putting them on all of my rifles.

Never been able to edit my posts. I went with Sportsmatch TO48C as I wanted mounts directly to the dovetail on the receiver.

. I think there should be an attached image here. Anyways, the little down pointing arrow that’s circled in yellow will take you to “edit”. The arrow will only show up on your own posts. You probably have to tap the image to make it appear more clearly

I’ve been trying to do what the OP asked and put together a do all bulletproof outfit that I can travel with. Also trying to keep it under $1,000. So far I have $599 in the Tikka, $20 transfer fee, and $55 in mounts. Looking for a scope in the 3-16 or 4-14 range with no more than a 44mm objective. I have a few ideas but really waiting on the rings to see my mounting options.

I think I can do it as long as I don’t count ammo

Thank you. I don't have that on my screen. I have Report but that is all.

Can’t remember if I mentioned it, but one of the older guys I hunt with picked one up last year in 308. I handled it and the action was smooth as glass. He put a trijicon on it with one of those German posts in green. Wow. Never seen one of those in the wild, but what a nice scope. Suspect it cost twice what the gun did, but what a handy little rifle.

What are you going with for glass? Something with fairly big magnification?

Sorry just edited my post and see your last two comments.

The three that I'm looking at are Burris, Sightron, and Tract..

It would clearly be this one. I've been pining for a Savage 99 in 358 for nearly 40 years and bit the bullet this winter. It started life as a 99F in 308 and a previous owner had a new 358 barrel installed. I swapped the buttstock to improve sight alignment.savage 99.jpg

Nice rifle, Good luck with it. I wish I could see the end of the barrel.

Remington 7600 in 30.06 with peep sights. A classic. I'm sure a lot of you have one of these.

Oops. Went back to the original post and noticed he wanted specific models. I'm thinking either a Tikka T3 or a Browning X-bolt. I dismissed the X-bolts for some time as they inexplicably gave their .308s a 1:12 twist. They've since gone to 1:10 twist, so they're back on my list again.

As far as the lighted reticle scope, not too sure. I put Vortex Strike Eagle 3-18 scopes on my .338 bear rifles, but they are heavy, and I don't really use the 18x ever. Bought the daughter an Athlon lighted reticle in a 1" tube. Its nice, but I hate the sharp knob on the mag ring. Its easy to hit your thumb when the scope is dialed down to 3x. Maybe I wouldn't mind if the rifle had a bolt throw under 90 degrees.

If anybody can recommend a nice 1" 3-9x lighted reticle (NOT dot - I want part of the crosshair lighted), I'd love to hear about it.
Trijicon? Not sure what they offer in lighted crosshairs

Just found the letter of authentication. It’s number one of two New Hampshire Opening day Weatherbys made in 2008. Beautiful wood, breat bluing and cool gold scroll work. Wish I could upload some pictures.
