My little brother and I are leaving Wednesday for Maryland for 3 days of deer and waterfowl hunting. My oldest brother lives there and I used to go down every year but haven't been since 2008. Usually we hunt ducks and geese in the morning and deer in the afternoon. Looking forward to getting away and hunting with my brothers!

I am contemplating a Maryland deer hunt, I will look forward to your report! Will you have a chance at any Sika deer while you are there?

Probably not, I've hunted Sika deer in the past during the late muzzle loader season and killed a Sika doe. I think if I really wanted to kill a Sika stag, I'd go earlier, like mid October, I'm not sure what's open then. Archery probably is and they have an early muzzleloader season around then.

My cousin and a friend of ours hunts a farm in Md every year. They slaughter them. They know a bunch of locals and some guides, if your looking for info I can get some for you.

Left home at 5:00 AM and got down here about 1:00. Temperature in the low 40's. Got dressed and headed out about 2:30. I was in the corner of a cut sorghum field. I saw 4 does/skips, Bill saw 3 and John saw 2 small bucks, 2 does and a fawn. He shot at a doe and I think he missed clean, we couldn't find a thing. We're going to hunt waterfowl for a few hours and go look some more.

I went down a few years ago for deer and geese. We killed a nice 10 pointer and saw plenty of deer. Limited out on geese, ate crab 3 times a day. Can`t wait to go back.

We stayed on Tillman Island and hunted just north of there. Not too far from where the movie "Wedding Crashers" was filmed

We hunted waterfowl this morning. No wind, 40 degrees, not great weather. Ducks weren't flying at all, we killed 4 Canada's. Then we went and spent another hour looking for any sign of the deer John shot at, no hair, no blood and no deer. He missed. Back in stands this afternoon, I saw 5 deer in the far end of the field, too far to shoot.
Tomorrow is supposed to be in the low 20's with 25-35 mph winds, the morning should be much better for ducks and geese.

We killed a few mallards and limits of geese this morning, the weather was wild, 21 degrees, 6 inches of snow being blown around by 25-35 mph north winds....
Went back to my brothers and had oysters for lunch and back out deer hunting at 2:30. I hunted a stand in the woods, saw three deer from 25-50 yards away but the woods were so thick with snow on the holly trees that I couldn't get a shot. I'm going to hunt the same stand tomorrow morning.

Hunted the stand in the woods this morning, 12 degrees with light wind. Sat till 9:30 and didn't see anything. We went and had breakfast, then about 12:30 set up in a field for geese. We killed 4, should have had limits if not for the subpar shooting.
About 3:00 we headed for deer stands. I went to one in a 3 acre sorghum field. About 5:00 a small doe and a little 3 point buck came out. I smoked the 3 pointer at 90 yards with 15 minutes of shooting light left in my Maryland trip. Headed home tomorrow.

If you are looking to hunt Sika deer (elk) try in Va. the Chicoteeke (sp?) Wildlife refuge has a great hunt every year. It's just over the border from MD. I shot many while I was stationed in Va.
