Seems like a lot of time and money to me. I know you said you have some knee and hip issues, but what about using the money to buy a new scope, and sit on one of those power line crossings over in your neck of the woods. There's some easy access to some decent choppings too not far from your house or even a 15 minute ride to Alexandria. Plenty of accessible log landings that have natural growth in them as well. Good luck with whatever endeavor you choose.

I have thought about that…maybe even try some this season! One thing that would help me immensely is getting a pair of good fitting boots so I can walk with support. The mucks are good for what I have been doing but on days when I decide to expand and still hunt, my body suffers because of the lack of foot/ankle support. This alone might help in getting me further away from my little areas but my feet are BAD size 14 triple EEE! The food plot idea is still on the table and I guarantee you I will not be spending too much time and $$ on it. It’s going to be one of those “better than nothing” deals. 😊 hopefully, something will grow by the “throw and grow” method!

I swear, winter rye will grow on a sidewalk or in the crevices of a truck bed LOL

It definitely does and it’s one of the few green foods in November. And it’s not too expensive per bushel.

I don’t look at it so much as a hunting food as an early to green up in the spring food source. It’s there when deer need it the most after a long winter.
