They had put 10 of them out on gunbroker a week or two ago. but they put them for sale one at a time and kept relisting the gun after it was sold. They sold those 10 in a flash. A guy I know from Maine bought one directly from the store . They used the same pictures in the ad on gunbroker . The serial number ends in LCOTE035. The one the guy from Maine bought the serial number is LCOTE057 . So I knew they had at least 60. More than likely Cote's ordered at least 75 of these. Beautiful guns with that emblem on the silver receiver. But they dont interest me this time . They dont have the fiber optic iron sights like mine came with. i dont want just one aiming option
There has been too many missed opportunities lost because of rain , snow , fog , glare on the scope lens, and even the magnification set at 3 power was too much to get a good aim at a fast moving target at close range.
Im actually in the process of switching all my 3x9 power scopes . Switching them to 1x6 , 1.25x4 , 1.5 x5 . All of which dont have a front bell . I've been using " quality " see thru sights for over 35 years. I can switch from using the scope to iron sights and back to the scope in a fraction of a second. There are junky ones out there that are too narrow and not high enough. If someone tried those I can see why they dont like see thru scope mounts.

I took this pic from far back on the stock . I dont even see the scope when aiming with the iron sights . I see a big field of view and hopefully there will be a big buck in that FOV this fall. LOL.

You cant use iron sights if your gun dont have them when your scope is full of snow or fogged up .

I bought my BAR MK3 Carbine DBM from Luke Cote himself. Good guy to deal with. This was two years ago. I felt he did everything necessary to make the sale. I was over there two weeks ago, not a lot of inventory but still making some sales. I would like to have one of the wood carbines in 308.

I guess your DBM is synthetic. Where you able to find 4 round magazines for it? I think it comes with 10 round.

I'm tempted, but as most of you know I have one in 308 already. I could break down at any time though.:devilish:

Well you better break down soon. Since yesterdays post 3 more flew off the shelf. Now there is ONLY 18 LEFT.
At this rate they will all be gone by next weekend. Stimulus checks must be pouring in and being chambered in 30-06 Browning Bar Carbines !

The guy I know in Maine that bought one sent me a note last nite that he is thinking of buying another one before they are all gone. Says they are that nice. And he hasn't even put a scope on the 1st one yet.

I keep telling myself I already have 2 Browning Bar 30-06 carbines . One I use and another new one still in the box. And 2 other standard Browning Bars , my older reliable 30-06 that served me well for over 35 years and a new unfired 300 WM that I bought in 1985 . My common sense tells me I dont " need " another one . And then " The Evil One :devilish: " shows up and starts whispering " You WANT One " .

Now I know what its like to be standing on the edge of a cliff with one foot over the edge and one foot on a banana peel. 😵

I don't have one in 30-06, and I like 30-06.....

Just joined because of this post my apologies for interupting. I'm curious about this very rifle specifically on GB. I'm from the Oregon coastal area and hunt Roosevelt Elk. You folks on the east coast seem to know much more about this type of rig than anybody I've come across. So I have a few question if any can help as I've read most of your posts 👍. (Very funny to see your thought process played out by others.) Ok questions, are you using on moose and bear in this area? and what is the max distance you'd take big game with this... 250-300 yards? Is heavy bullets the best? You guys have anymore Intel on this setup in general would be appreciated? Just asking for a friend who may or may not have got one 😉. P.S. there maybe one like this again but it'll be mo money. You forgot that part go for it. Any how Thanks!

Welcome to the site. Hope you stick around and post some elk pics.

I have the BAR Carbine in 308, which you probably know is very similar to 30/06 in regards to power/trajectory. I find that the 165 grain Federal's shot best out of my rifle. I lot of people seem to think lighter bullets are best in an 18 inch carbine. I still got good groups with the 180's, but just tighter with the 165's. I have only shot mine out to 200 yards with good groups and grouping about 1.5 inches at 100 yards with not the best of rests. I would think you should get good accuracy out to 300 yards with the rifle. Might take a little tinkering to find out what shoots best like always. Shooting good quality 165 or 180 grain bullets should to the trick on an elk.
I have not shot anything with the rifle yet, but I have shot many deer, and some moose with 30/06,

Thanks longbow. I would love to post some elk pics my season will be during Thanksgiving. I think this gun will work well. I like short barrel rifles and I'm glad to hear you say you think 300yards I figured it would do that in a pinch.

Definitely a quality firearm and something you won't see everyday.

I have one of the 30-06 from this spring. Trigger pull is very nice and pretty accurate too.
The Hell's Canyon version is in at LL Cote in the 308, wished it matched the wood 30-06.

This was with factory Remington 180 round nose.
