I have been doing this stuff for about 10 years and have had lots of success with bow and gun. I am now more interested in introducing others to how exciting it can be. My buddy sat in my stand for three evening in a row last year and had 9 come in. One was probably around 250 that he passed. I had one come in that would have pushed the 300 mark but I didn't have a good shot so I passed.

They are starting to call me the bear watcher.

He used to be practically tame, and I would see him all the time in October before the December bear season. When they opened the early Oct. bear season a few years ago he became nocturnal. He must read the game laws...lol Have pics of him in 2018, none in 2019. Not sure if he is still alive. The woman who lives next to where I hunt said a real big bear was at her feeded a few times this summer, so we'll see.

Another one pretty big also. Watch how he puts his back foot right into his front footstep. Not only this time, but every time he goes down to the pond. Exact same footprints right in the others. This is pretty common, maybe others have noticed bear trails where they step exactly in their other tracks, time after time. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GPE248xIecA

I was on the backside of the barn at work and saw this bear coming up the hill. At 0:34 I hear crackling coming up the hill and bigger one appears. You will see the camera tilt a little. That is me drawing my pistol, just in case.;) My back is right up against the barn! The bear was about 7 steps from me. Just a big sow I think.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Flzmr-x7lVk

Looks like a sow with an oder cub. Pretty close and they look like they are used to human activity without being bothered.

That bear is a tank. I've had a couple of them that size on my bait but they are nocturnal.

Well the bear trails around me are like cattle. Just flattened right down the whole way. He looks really hot too coming from his swim.

LB you gotta cut that lawn it's getting a little furry.

They are pretty big and I bet she will be kicking them out before winter. Those would be tasty.

I'm heading out to put up the trail cam on my site this afternoon. We can bait starting on September 1st. I usually have them checking the first or second day. I probably won't sit the stand until the 14th.

We can bait at anytime, but you can not sit in any type of blind within 300 feet of the bait.

Good work takes time. You have to contemplate your next move for a long time so you don't have to re-do it.

Long shot with a bow. So you can just stand at the barn and shoot one by the looks of it.

That is the biggest bear I've ever seen still with its mommy. The cub alone didn't look very small.

Yeah that cub is well over 100 pounds. If you just saw it alone, probably a shooter, if you weren't looking to wait for a giant.

I would say that cub was closer to 200 than not...mama approaches 300 in my opinion.

Yeah, I'm thinking 125 and 250 dressed weights.

Glad you agree. I'm still not good at sizing bears, but that "cub" looked well over 100 lbs to me, and I oughta know - I've shot enough 100 lbers.
