Hello All:

I have one of the original Bowtech Guardian bows in my possession. It was a gift from my late father and it still is a pretty good bow. I shot it with a hunting arrow and according to the chronograph the arrow with a Slick Trik broadhead at 285 fps.

I guess that isn't too bad.

In a way I do not see a huge need for me to change bows. Not ony is there a giant sentimental issue but I don't see the real world performance worth the price of a new bow.

Secondly, I am thinking of going to a mechanical broadhead. What mechanical would you use with a bow launching arrows at 285 fps out of the gate? Thank you

There is no "NEED" to upgrade that bow. It's probably from around 2007ish if I remember correctly. Newer bows tend to be a little smoother and a little more dead in the hand that's about it. Keep an eye on the strings and cables though.
Why are you switching to a mechanical head...those slick tricks typically fly very well out of a well tuned bow. If you are going to switch check out the offerings from B3, Grim Reaper or Rage.

My bow Shoots 180 ft./s. Nothing wrong with trying something different, some of the new technology that excites you. Or maybe you want to try just a stick and string? You can always hunt with your Dad‘s gift from time to time, it will probably bring you good luck. How has it been working for you? No problems?

I noticed that it seemed to lose a bit of accuracy for some reason. I am thinking of a smaller peep sight to resolve this. I did switch the limbs from top to bottom. I know it may be a tad late but I am thinking of a tune up at a pro shop. Maybe a new cable/string assembly.

At what point do I upgrade? ......um...usually every 6 months. Lol. Im a bow fanatic, I buy sell swap hunt with more bows in a year than half the guys will in a lifetime. I have my faves each year but doesn't keep me from shooting them.all and buying the ones I like.
